Ricardo Riquelme has headed Vinces’ Energy practice since 2020; he has been a partner at the firm since 2026 and is a member of its Management Committee.
Since then, he has advised multinational companies in the energy sector across the entire value chain, from generation to transmission, distribution, and consumption. Together with his team, he has contributed to the development of more than 5 GW of renewable energy projects in numerous autonomous communities, applying the CIVIE model—Vinces’ proprietary methodology that views social legitimacy as a prerequisite for a genuine and sustainable energy transition that is in harmony with the local territory. He has also promoted stand-alone energy storage in Spain and Portugal, the development of biomethane plants, and Spanish companies’ access to European institutions that make decisions regarding industry, energy, and climate.
Before joining Vinces, he worked in environmental consulting, focusing on environmental project assessments, and built a career in the regional and local public sectors. He served as Director General of the Environment for the Government of the Community of Madrid and as a city council member for four terms, holding positions such as deputy mayor and council member for Urban Planning in the City Council of Majadahonda and council member for the Environment in the City Council of Las Rozas de Madrid.
