Mikel Burzako has headed Vinces’ office in the Basque Country since February 2026.
Since joining the firm, he has been working with local industrial and energy companies to strengthen their positioning and influence with European institutions, bringing the firm’s public affairs practice closer to the Basque industrial sector.
He has more than thirty years of international experience in both the public sector and strategic consulting. He lived in Santiago, Chile, for seven years, working at the Basque-Chilean Foundation for Development, and coordinated Latin American operations for a firm specializing in the mining sector. In 2001, he joined the Basque Government’s foreign affairs division as director of Development Cooperation and later as director of Foreign Affairs, where he was responsible for the Basque Country’s First Foreign Affairs Strategy, the opening of Basque delegations in Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Mexico, and the United States, and the development of institutional relations in Asia. In 2009, he founded LBR International Strategies, where he served as the State of Pennsylvania’s investment representative in Spain and Portugal, and in 2013 he returned to the Basque Government as Director of Coordination, overseeing the government’s program and the Basque administration’s Transparency Index, which in 2014 achieved the highest score from Transparency International.
