Martin Versnel has more than 40 years of experience in international public administration, defense governance, and the management of multinational programs.
From 2019 to 2025, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Executive Management at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, where he supported the governance and oversight of NATO’s institutional resources.
Previously, he served as Chief of Staff of the NATO department responsible for pooled military funding (2007–2019), where he played a key role in the management and development of NATO’s pooled funding investment programs that support the Alliance’s capabilities.
His experience spans defense policy, international security cooperation, and the governance of multinational programs. He brings a deep understanding of NATO structures, defense financing mechanisms, and international decision-making processes, as well as extensive experience working with governments, international organizations, and industry.
